Today's challenge: "TGIF! To celebrate the end of the week, make an artistic shot of your favorite beverage or libation today."

This wasn't too tough...it's Friday...and after school.

Today's challenge: "As you walk through a door today, pick one at random, take a moment see what's around you and make a photo."

Walking inside from the SNOW this morning the hallway was empty.

Today's challenge: "Ansel Adams said "A good photograph is knowing where to stand." Use your feet today to zoom or get a unique perspective."

I never look down the flower bed that's out our back door. I only ever look directly back to see what is behind our unit that is blooming.

What a tough challenge today. So many directions to turn. In the end - CHOCOLATE!

Two important pieces of plastic as I get things ready for a week in London. I'll be taking these with us!

We had tickets to what was originally a 1:00 pm Rockies game. The game was re-scheduled to 3:00 pm, because of a memorial service. So after snacking at the game, when we got home I needed only a light dinner

Today's challenge: "Experiment in the digital darkroom today. Make a photo and post-process it any way you like to unleash your creativity."

We spent the morning running errands, making sure we had some things in order for our upcoming trip to London. We then headed down to the REI flagship store in Denver. We had lunch at Paris on the Platte, and took a little walk along the Platte. With all the rain and snow we've had the last two days, you can see how high the water was. The only editing I really did was to sharpen things up a bit.

Today's challenge: "Train your eye to look for repetition. Make a photo of a repeating subject while considering composition and DOF."

While not the photo I was looking for today, it's what I got. Batteries died in small camera, didn't have larger camera with me, iPhone was all I had....and it was raining buckets yesterday, followed by snow! I didn't spend a lot of time outside.

Today's challenge: "Spring has arrived in the Northern Hemisphere. Make any photo that shows new life!"

While this isn't the macro photo most have taken. It definitely represents new life here in the arid state of Colorado. It is GREEN! Usually these mountain sides are brown

Today's challenge: "What's your favorite type of music? Make a photo today that in some way conveys your taste in music."

While not the only type of music I like, Celtic music plays a big part of the music I like and listen to.

I don't think a description is necessary for this photo.

This is from our neighborhood restaurant, that sits on a lake...the lights are the new high school across the lake. I stood here for several minutes trying to capture the lightening that kept happening out across northeastern Colorado, but I just didn't have the right touch tonight.

Today was a busy Saturday, and it was late in the evening when I realized I hadn't yet taken my photo for the day. So a little bit of an easy out....but my photo just the same.

I love going to the grocery store when I haven't had a chance all day to take a photo for the challenge. I had to do the shopping anyway, but there were so many colors everywhere!

Today's challenge: "Every town, village, or city has distinguishing icons and landmarks. Make a photo of one wherever you are today."

The Arvada Water Tower is just that an icon and landmark. The whole redevelopment project in the area was even named the Water Tower Project!

Today's challenge: "Can a picture suggest smell? Make a photograph of something that we can almost sniff and smell."

I used the flash on this photo of Joe's morning coffee, and at first I wasn't liking the effect. But after looking at it a bit, it grew on me.

Today's challenge: "Pretend you're a stringer for your local newspaper today. Make a photo that captures something newsworthy to you."

Okay, so a disk that allows you to stream Netflix video through your Wii, may not be newsworthy to everyone. However, Joe thinks it's fantastic, so I decided this was the photo of the day. Giving us a new use for a device we already own - no new electronics were purchased!

I love all of my Fiestaware colors, but these two are two of my favorites!

I do have to say it was one of our gorgeous spring days here in Denver....the kind you live for during those last few snow storms in March or early April.

We had tickets to the Avalanche game tonight, it was a perfect place to take a photo for today's challenge. Sad, they lost to the Black Hawks 5-2. I still enjoyed the game.

Taking this challenge to heart, I figured minimal gear is the iPhone - so that was my camera of choice today. And speaking of minimal gear - I purchased these 4 cameras on Woot.com for $15 (including shipping). These are for our Robotics and Web Design classes to use at school. Not high resolution cameras, but it allows me to put a camera in more student's hands.

We have a neighbor who walks her Great Dane morning and night. I always see one of them out walking the dog. I've always wondered how a couple lives with a Great Dane in a townhouse with no yard....it puzzles me.

Today's challenge: "Speed or the sense of speed can add excitement to a photo. Make a photo of something going fast or that can go fast."

It seems like the months, weeks and days are going by faster. Funny I should say that today, while at school I felt like the day would never end...

Today's challenge: "Blue is the color of sky and water. Many call it the color of hope. Make a photo with blue and what it represents to you."

This is our neighborhood restaurant. I know its odd in Colorado, but it even has a boat dock, as it sits on a lake!

Today's challenge: "Sunday challenge: Create a photograph that makes you feel happy looking at it. Don't stop at good. Go for full on happy."

I think for Carter making a new sword before going to see the movie "How to Train Your Dragon" was as happy as anyone could be. It was certainly the most interesting thing going on in his backyard.

Two more days I'm counting as vacation days.  The photos just did not get taken these two days. 

We took a bicycle tour of Key West as our shore excursion. The guide took us to some out of the way places, including this Parrot Reserve, where an elderly lady takes in unwanted parrots and sees to their care.

We were on our cruise these days.  I had little or no Internet access.  I didn't even carry the camera with me, although in retrospect I probably should have.  I'm counting these two days as my vacation days, and picking up from here.

As we did the Muster Drill just before leaving the Port of Miami, I thought this might be an excellent shot to meet today's challenge.
