Today's challenge: "Shoot wide open today. Make a creative photo that uses a shallow depth of field to good effect."

For me this was a travel day. Flying on benefits is great for the budget, but it can sometimes be stressful - waiting to know if there is a seat available on the flight you want.

I was one of the last three given a seat on the flight out of Heathrow to Denver (non-stop). So I'm not sure how creative this is - but today getting this seat made my day!

Today's challenge: "Find the shape of a letter in something around you-- architecture, nature, or anything not in print--and make a photo."

This light in the Loch Lomond car park made a perfect 'Y'.

Today's challenge: "Constraints can unleash creativity. Walk 1 minute in any direction, stop, find a subject, and make a photo."

I was not on foot today as I took the Hop-on Hop-off tour of Glasgow. So I decided to take a photo of whatever was around the next corner. Turns out it was a statue of Wellington with a traffic cone on his head.

I'm not sure what the significance of the traffic cone is, maybe one of my Glaswegian friends could clue me in.

Today's challenge: "Make a photo of a flag today: national, state, or otherwise. Try to compose it in a unique way."

I know that June 14 is Flag Day in the US, and probably the reason for today's challenge. However, since I wasn't in the US, I choose to use the Saltire for my subject today.

I spent a beautiful morning on my own at the Edinburgh Castle. Yes, I've been there several times before, but it was such a gorgeous day, I couldn't resist visiting again.

Today's challenge: "Challenge: Invent your own filter! Shoot through something translucent or transparent. Make a photo with a unique look."

I used the water of Loch Fyne as my filter to get a shot of an eel as it swims around in the water close to the wall.
